“The main issue was of demarcation. By Thursday he (Abhyankar) promised that it would be finished. He also told us to start erecting the shacks,” Cruz Cardozo of the Shacks Welfare Committee told media after the meeting. “They will give (renew) licences to operate by October 15.”
According to tourism department officials, 80 per cent of the demarcation of the shacks is complete and the balance would be done soon.
Shack operators also expressed their satisfaction over the meeting calling it “fruitful.”
Earlier shack operators met separately to discuss on which shacks had not been demarcated before they went to meet the director to get their problems sorted out.
