In a big victory for Vasco MLA Krishna Salkar, the Old Vasco fish market demolition began on Friday in the presence of MMC officials. Salkar speaking to reporters said that works on the foundation for the new fish market will begin in two days
” The government is a continuous process and while I may have been here to take the Fish Market project forward, I cannot take entire credit as former MLA Carlos Almeida and the old Council also put a lot of effort into this project. It has been a joint effort that finally the Vasco fish market project is seeing the light of the day,” said Salkar
” The fish vendors have shifted to roads outside the old fish market as of now and will soon shift to the new temporary locations. They have been waiting to offer religious prayers and seek blessings of the priest to get good business before they can shift to the temporary location ” said Salkar
” The works have officially begun and we have dismantled the roofing and we will carry out demolition works today. The demolition works will be finished in two days after which works on the foundation for the new fish market complex will begin. The works on this new fish market will commence immediately after the demolition works are completed in two days’ time. ” added Salkar
