CANACONA: In view of the recent surge in COVID-19 cases across the State, Canacona MLA and Deputy Speaker Isidore Fernandes on Friday urged the Chief Minister to completely seal the border at Polem forthwith.
The movement of people into the State through Polem checkpost from Uttar Kannada that has reported high number of COVID-19 cases has been also a case of worry to the local MLA and the residents of Canacona Taluka.
Fernandes added that he is worried about the safety of the Goans over the movement of so many people across the border at Pollem.
“I also called the Chief Minister over the phone and made myself clear on my demand to close the Polem border,” the MLA said, while referring to the detection of COVID-19 infection in a number of people who have entered Goa from across the border.
