The order states that the illegal kiosk was erected by one Prabhakar Mayekar in the middle of the creek, in 2013. The property belongs to Ucassaim Comunidade.
The Comunidade had in August 2013 complained to the village panchayat and requested that action against the illegal kiosk be initiated. But even after the inspection and order of the panchayat the structure stills exists and Mayekar is operating a tailoring shop there till date.
After the inspection in December 2013 the panchanama was recorded by the village panchayat and it asked Mayekar to remove the kiosk from the creek failing which the Panchayat decided to demolish the kiosk and send a report to block development officer (BDO) on September 9, 2014 to provide demolition squad and other relevant correspondence to the Panchayat to carry out demolition. But the file is still with BDO, the panchayat member informed.
“We had completed all the necessary formalities to demolish the said illegal kiosk in the creek, but the file which we had sent to BDO with request to provide necessary assistance as per law is still with BDO” Shivanand Mandrekar, former sarpanch and present Panch member of Ucassaim said.
Caitan Vaz, member of Ucassaim Comunidade said that they have been even following the matter with the BDO but so far nothing has moved. “We have complained to the panchayat in 2013 about the illegal construction of the kiosk in the creek, but it is sad to see that somebody is still illegally operating business in comunidade property,” Vaz said.
