SANGUEM: The people of Sanguem are made to wonder over the black topping of road at Valkini ward of Bhati village despite the Sanguem taluka receiving rains since last many days.
“The work operations were going on even on Friday morning while it was raining,” informed Panchayat member of Bhati Village Manoj Paryekar.
The department is presently in progress of undertaking black topping of portion of road from Uguem village to Bhati which was dug some six months back to lay the water pipeline. However, the road repair work was not done all this time.
The people however wonder the carrying of black topping operations in the rains knowing fairly well that the black topping will not last for long.
At some places where the black topping was already done, the road is already seen to have been washed away and the bassalt stones used in the construction can be seen having surfaced on top.
Paryekar said, “I had approached the engineers dealing with the ongoing road repair work in the village and he assured that the work will be stopped on immediate basis”.
However despite the assurance given by the concerned engineer, the contractor was seen undertaking the road construction work today at a time when it was raining in Sanguem.
Paryekar alongwith other villagers wondered as to what the game is all about and why the govt is wasting public money knowing fairly well that it will go into the drains.
