PANJIM: The Goa Police Establishment Board headed by the Director General of Police (DGP) is likely to take a decision on the internal inquiry findings in the recruitment of Police Sub-Inspectors (PSIs) in consultation with the State government.
A senior police officer has said that any officer of any rank found guilty of the alleged irregularities in the recruitment of Police Sub-Inspectors (PSIs) will not be spared and punished without any prejudice.
In the internal inquiry conducted by the Deputy Superintendent of Police (DySP) a few months ago, it was found that the names of two candidates, who had failed the physical test had appeared in the list of eligible candidates to appear in the written test after they were marked pass.
Consequently, five committees headed by DySPs were constituted to review the entire recruitment process and also to scan the videos of the physical test of those PSI recruits, who were qualified to appear in the written test. It was found that they are shown as marked pass when they had in fact failed.
Meanwhile, Goa police are in the process of enacting a new legislation Goa Tenants Verification Act in view of increasing incidents of crimes involving non-Goans.
