MAPUSA: Goa DGP Mukesh Kumar Meena visited the Mapusa Police station on Wednesday and inspected how the police were performing.
The DGP also interacted with station staff and also inquired if they are facing any problems. Mukesh Kumar also gave instructions to the staff on how to improve their functioning.

SP North Utkrisht Prasoon and DySp Gajanan Prabhudesai were also present. The DGP also interacted with the Market associations, jewellers and prominent citizens from Mapusa. He listened to their grievances and took note of their suggestions. The merchants and jewellers demanded to increase police patrolling in Mapusa, specially in isolated areas as well as to deploy staff at important locations.
The Jewellers association also demanded to improve the CCTV surveillance by installing more cameras in prominent locations and requested the police to monitor the same.
Mukesh Kumar also informed that staff from the Police Headquarters who will be deployed at prominent places in Mapusa should report to the police inspector.
Clarifying there is a wrong impression in people’s mind that crimes have increased in the State, the DGP said, “All the crimes are being registered and detected by the police, including the Margao Walke murder case which was a blind case.”
“There has been an increase in migrants and tourists entering into the State. The market is also rising. Our policy is that no crime take place in Goa but once the crime is registered, it’s the duty of the police is to detect it,” the DGP clarified when asked about the increase of crime in the State.
