BICHOLIM: The residents of Dhangarwada in Kudchirem Bicholim stopped the work of laying of water pipelines through their village protesting lack of water to the villagers.
It may be stated that the PWD was laying pipelines from Kudchirem to Bicholim and when the digging work of the tranches started at Dhangarwada the villagers stopped the work. They demanded that they should be given proper supply of water before the PWD dig the tranches.
“We have strong objection to laying of pipelines through our village as we are not getting proper supply of water in the village. We have cattle that are also dependent upon water. Now they are giving us warnings that they would stop our tap connections if we oppose them,” a resident of Dhangarwada, Shahu Varak said.
“We are not getting proper water supply and now the PWD wants to take pipeline from the village. They should not take the water pipeline from Dhangarwada but can directly lay another pipeline from Padosem Water Treatment Plant,” local panch, Umesh Gaonkar said.
The JE of PWD, Bicholim joint mamletdar and other officials were also present at the site.
