PERNEM: For over four decades, the residents of Dhangarwadi, a ward of Hankhane-Ibrampur village, continue to be disconnected from the main hamlet.
A visit to Dhangarwadi revealed that the ward has no road and hence it has remained disconnected from Hankhane-Ibrampur for 45 years.
In the absence of a road, the villagers are compelled to undergo hardship especially during medical and fire emergencies.
During medical emergency, these locals are forced to ferry the patients on handmade wooden stretcher/ladder by crossing the jungles and fields to reach the nearby hospital.
The ward has around 35-40 families with minimum population of 60-70 people.
It is pertinent to note that Union Minister for AYUSH and Defence Shripad Naik adopted the village under the Saansad Adarsh Gram Yojana.
Raju Warak a youth said, “There is no road from more than 45 years. People are forced to cross the jungles and fields to reach the main village areas. During emergency we are compelled to make handmade stretcher or use a wooden ladder to ferry any patient to the hospital.”
The villagers claimed that the local MLA is aware of this and despite being in power for four terms, the local legislator has failed to develop the village.
Locals informed that the road issue is pending as the landlord has refused to give NOC. However, they charged that if this was a government project then it would have got the NOC by hook or by crook.
Villagers claimed that during monsoon the fields get flooded and school students and pregnant women face difficulties in travelling.
A visit revealed that people are forced to walk on a cement pipe along the narrow stretch to cross the fields.
