Patrick D’Souza, President of the Disability Alliance for Inclusive Goa, has raised concern over the non-functional lift at Junta House, stating that the facility has been out of service for the past eight days.
D’Souza emphasized that the issue has caused serious inconvenience to persons with disabilities, senior citizens, and visitors who rely on the lift for access to various government offices housed in the building.
He urged the concerned authorities to prioritize repairs and ensure that basic accessibility infrastructure remains operational at all times. “Accessibility cannot be treated as an afterthought. A single non-functional lift can deny citizens their right to access public services,” he said.
The Disability Alliance for Inclusive Goa has also appealed to the government to conduct regular maintenance checks and establish accountability mechanisms to prevent such lapses in the future.
