Discourse on Dnyan Yoga at Margao

MARGAO: Chinmaya Mission Margao will be conducting a discourse on “Attention” titled Dnyan Yoga from January 2 to 8 at the main auditorium of Ravindra Bhavan, Margao from 6:30 pm to 8 pm and this will be the 34th annual discourse on the Vedas conducted by the organization in Margao.
Briefing media persons Acharya Nikhilanandji said Attention is of utmost importance in present times where people tend to lose attention and focus immediately due to the pressures of trying to be materialistic.
While asserting that the Chinmaya mission does not propagate conversions, he said faith and conviction in ones culture can be the fulcrum of a good life and said the youth particularly need to be convinced about this.
He appealed to the youth from Goa to participate in the discourse series as the lectures will be delivered in Hindi by the Swami Swatmananda who was earlier a youth Chinmaya Mission leader and has great rapport with the youth.
The discourse will be on chapter 6 of the Bhagwad Geeta.
 and Acharya said knowledge of Vedas and its proper understanding can truly be enchanting and life altering.
While the Dnyan Yoga will be held in the evening from 3rd January to 8th January in the morning from 7 to 8 there will be lecturers on Adi Shankaracharya’s books aimed at protecting the country from foreign influences and culture.
He said every year the discourses are held in January to enable the people to start their new year afresh with fresh ideas and strengthened values.
Jitendra Agarwal, President of Chinmaya Mission Margao said there are six centres in Goa where classes and discourses are conducted regularly and said the Mission also has its own deemed university that has now started a new post graduate diploma course in counseling.
Besides having the Chinmaya Organisation for Rural Development started to in Himachal Pradesh to help the tribals there, he said Setu Kari Group which is aimed at bridging the gap between the youth and adults is also launched recently by the mission.
Shrikant Dhond the vice president of the mission in Margao said the sun never sets down on the Chinmaya mission centres today as there are 375 centres all over the world from Tokyo to Western America.
Chinmaya Mission also uses the social media extensively and is well versed with modern communication means and have its own U Tube channels besides having prepared a television series of 52 episodes called Upanishad Ganga.
