MARGAO: The members of Discriminated Teachers’ Forum (DTF) will hold their general body meeting on August 13, at 10 am at Loyola High School, Margao to discuss issues concerning its members.
At this meeting, the Forum would discuss the issue of Teachers’ Day celebrations on September 5, and their participation in the same at Kala Academy, Panjim.
It may be recalled that on account of our premature retirement at the age of 58 years, teachers lost many benefits like two annual increments, further making them to forgo higher pensionary and other such benefits which they say they were eligible to receive, causing immense financial loses.
After persistent and continuous demands in the form of candle light processions, peaceful morchas and road blockades, the government had announced to grant the teachers relief by providing two increments on the last pay drawn subsequent to their retirement, benefits of gratuity and computation of pension payable. However, the Forum said that “many of the school managements have not even cared to do the pay fixation as ordered by the government.”
