He expressed dismay that he had not received any response from the Chief Minister over some queries pertaining to the double-tracking. Initially, the MLA was not against double tracking but the delay in the clarification from the CM’s side, despite sending a reminder,on  how this project would benefit the local people has changed his stance.  He said that he will now officially write to the CM stating that he will be opposing double tracking.

He added that the South Western Railway must also give information in detail as how double-tracking will benefit the local people.

“The doubling of track is in the process at present and tomorrow more tracks might be put up which can’t be allowed,” Almeida added.

Elaborating about his attempt to seek answers from the CM, he said that he had posed the same questions to the former Chief Minister (late) Manohar Parrikar. Alemaida added that he had similarly asked Parrikar about the number of passenger trains that will be introduced, the number of houses that would be cleared etc.
