PANJIM: The displaced kiosk owners who used to operate outside Goa Medical College (GMC) Bambolim have called off their indefinite hunger strike following a meeting with Chief Minister Pramod Sawant and St Cruz BJP MLA Tony Fernandes on Monday.
The kiosk owners who had earlier followed on their ultimatum of going on a strike on the grounds that the government had not started their rehabilitation work were given fresh assurances by the CM and the MLA.
“The Chief Minister said the work on our gaddas will start this week and that the tender has already been opened and that part of the work had already begun,” said the leader of the protesting kiosk owners, Inacio Domnic Pereira.
