CANACONA: Dayanand Shanta Pagi, working on a fishing trawler reportedly stranded in Ratnagiri, Maharashtra due to suspension of all types of transport mode, through a Facebook video has asked for help to reach home in Canacona.
Unable to control his emotions, he breaks down in the 45 seconds video while saying that he has a wife and two children below 10 years back home in Canacona as he asks for help to reach home.
The video, which seems to be shot by a Ratnagiri local, is uploaded on the Facebook on Monday. In the video, the fisherman says that his house owner till Monday gave him food but now has told him that he has ran out of provisions and has to vacate the room.
Not knowing how his family is fending for themselves during the lockdown due to COVID-19 threat he is asking for help to reach home.
When this correspondent spoke with Canacona MLA and Deputy Speaker Isidore Fernandes, he said that he will use his good office to respond to any person who is in distress and needs help of whatever nature.
“This particular case has come to my notice and I am trying to find out from which village he is from so that as an immediate measure we can look after the needs of his family before we help him to come to his home,” Fernandes informed.
Meanwhile, Fernandes met the elected representatives of the local self governing bodies in Canacona on Sunday and Monday to assist the volunteers and to see that the essential commodities reach to all the residents of Canacona Taluka.
