MARGAO: TCP Minister Vijai Sardesai on Tuesday announced that plans for a dedicated entry and exit to the District Hospital nearing completion at Fatorda would be unveiled in the first week of June, as the government had received four different plans.
Speaking to media, he pointed out that in the present circumstances it would be very difficult even for an ambulance to enter the new district hospital once it is commissioned by the end of this year.
“A dedicated entry and exit is the only solution and right now we have four different plans,” he said, adding that the road would be prepared of steel so that it could be fitted at the site without affecting the traffic movement on the existing roads.
He said there is a need for a grade separator so that the vehicles moving towards the hospital can veer away from the road heading to Nuvem or Margao and said road on stilts made of steel was an option.
While one design has a road on stilts moving towards Nuvem, then making a ‘U’ turn and coming towards the road leading to Presentation Convent from where vehicles could move to the hospital. Patients coming from Nuvem to the hospital can the existing road. Another design provided is to have two such ‘C’ sections with one being at the entry to the hospital and the other at the exit point from the hospital.
While pointing out that the District Hospital is already connected to the sewerage system he assured that it will not get flooded this monsoon as all measures are being taken to prevent that.
