South Goa district Magistrate, G P Naik on Monday issued security and other guidelines for the Sarvajanik Ganesh Mandals during the Ganesh festivities.
Naik told newsmen after the meeting that the mandals should enforce security arrangements in and outside the pandals and ensure that volunteers maintain a vigil at the venue during the nights.
Saying that the police cannot provide metal door detectors and CCTVs at all the Ganesh pandals, the district Collector said the organizers have been told to maintain entry and exist the pandals, besides channelisers to control the crowds.
“The Pandals should have proper access for the fire services. Fire crackers should be burnt away from the pandals”, the collector said, adding that the organizers should provide for vehicular parking, at least 50 meters away form the pandals.
The meeting was attended by Superintendent of Police, South Allan De Sa, DySP Umesh Gaonkar, Sub-divisional magistrates, Margao PI Santosh Desai and others.
Briefing newsmen, the district Magistrate said that Ganesh idols should be installed in the pandals only after anti-sabotage check.
Fire services and electricity department will also check the pandals, he said, adding that the organsiers are required to display number of police, fire services at the venue for the benefit of the public.
