PANJIM: Acting upon proposed decisions that were being taken by certain schools to restart physical classes from Class VI and below, the Directorate of Education (DoE) issued a circular on Friday, strictly warning schools against commencing such classes other than what is permitted for Class VII to XII.

“All Heads are hereby strictly directed not to re-open any other standard other than mentioned in the above circulars without permission of the Directorate of Education. Action will be initiated for non compliance of this circular,” read the circular.
It may be recalled that DoE recently issued a circular allowing classes of Class VII and VIII to reopen in a physical mode with the option of allowing online classes too.
The department had earlier allowed classes of Class IX to XII to reopen.
This was done after the COVID Task force had recommended to the government that schools from nursery and above could start again in the physical mode. However, the State government chose not to start classes lower than Class VII and had said they were still evaluating the safety aspects of allowing such classes to reopen.
It is to be noted that some schools have been of the opinion that classes below Class VII should continue in an online mode.
