This time, the changes of zone requests are from the Talukas of Quepem, Ponda, Bardez, Tiswadi, Salcete and Pernem.

These requests were considered by the TCP in its 176th meeting that was held on October 27, 2021.

The TCP added in their notification that it has asked comments from citizens with reference to the 62 zone change requests within a period of two months from the date of publication of the notification in the Official Gazette.

It may be recalled that it had asked for comments from the public for the earlier set of notified change of zone requests too.

This is the latest of several notifications that have been issued by the TCP this year regarding change of zone request.

Critics have questioned the use of Section 16 B, which quickens the process and have expressed concerns to the possible damage to the ecology of the State given that cultivable and orchard lands are allegedly amongst those areas where the change of zones have been accepted.
