MARGAO: Benaulim MLA Churchill Alemao on Saturday flayed the attempts made by some persons of political outfits trying to instigate people and stop the development work in Benaulim.
The Benaulim MLA urged the people to play fair and not to mislead and instigate others.
While addressing the media, Churchill spoke about an incident where some people had gathered near Malkarnekar road in Kharebandh, which falls under Benaulim Constituency. The people alleged that the MLA cheated them of their land and asked for fair compensation for the land they lost to the road widening project which is being executed by the Goa State Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (GSIDC).
“Don’t spread falsehood and mislead people into believing false things. God pardons the sinners, not the cheaters,” he said.
He alleged that this is an attempt by some persons of political outfits to sabotage the project that has been requested by the people and planned for the people.
Former sarpanch of Benaulim Ashok Audi said, “The case is not what it is being made out to be. They are making it political.”
Later, Churchill thanked Manjunath Malkarnekar, Nutan Malkarnekar, Joseph, Hegde and others who have voluntarily provided land for the construction of the road.
