SANGUEM: The residents of Orcotto in Sanguem have submitted a memorandum to the Sanguem Municipal Council (MMC) Chairperson, Romualdo Fernandes, opposing installation of a mobile tower in their “densely populated” area.
In their memorandum, the residents have strongly demanded that the municipality not issue No Objection Certificate to the plot owner and the mobile phones company for installing a tower at Orcotto. They said that the tower would be a health hazards to the people in the residential locality.
The memorandum states that the site chosen by the company to install the tower is barely within a distance of 50 metres from the government school and a government run Balwadi centre.
The residents claim that the company was making backdoor attempt to get the NOC for installing the tower in the garb of soil testing.
Chairperson Fernandes has assured the residents that the municipality would not issue an NOC to the mobile company.
