Ponda-based physician Dr Ketan Bhatikar on Thursday met Goa Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant in Ponda during the ‘Sarkar Tumchya Daari’ outreach programme and highlighted several key issues concerning healthcare and governance in the constituency.
Bhatikar informed the Chief Minister that the Ponda Infectious Diseases (ID) Hospital is currently functioning without a cardiosurgeon, neurosurgeon and orthopaedic surgeon, affecting specialised medical services for patients. He claimed that CM Sawant asked him to suggest probable names of specialists who could be approached for these posts.

Apart from healthcare concerns, Bhatikar also drew attention to the absence of women members in the Staff Selection Committee of Kala Mandir, terming it a matter that needs immediate correction to ensure fair representation.
He further stated that late former Chief Minister Ravi Naik had earlier alleged that a particular road stretch work was deliberately concealed, and had demanded an inquiry into the matter. Bhatikar said CM Sawant agreed that an inquiry should be conducted.
The Chief Minister assured that the issues raised would be examined and appropriate action taken.
