MARGAO: The Dramapur Sirlim gram sabha while congratulating local MLA who hails from the same village Felipe Neri Rodrigues on being inducted in the State Cabinet also resolved against granting permission for setting up a Jio mobile tower in the village.
Sarpanch Sanjana Chari tabled the motion to congratulate Felipe Neri and pointed out that he hails from the same village and hence it was a matter of pride and glory for the villagers that their co-villager has become a minister.
In response to a query posed by Allwin Primo Alphonso, the panchayat informed that they have received an application from Jio mobile company to set up a mobile tower at Bondorim. The villagers however objected to it on grounds that it is a residential area and the panchayat was asked not to give NOC to the company.
The gram sabha approved the budget for the current financial year with an opening balance of Rs 86,27,420 and total tax collection of Rs 4.46 lakh of which house tax collection was projected at Rs 3,50,000 and trade tax at Rs 50,000.
Other receipts projected were Rs 4,00,000 from construction fee and Rs 30,000 from renewal of construction fee. Surprisingly, the budget projected Rs 4,00,000 as interest on savings account and only Rs 20,000 from market auction.
The major expenditure remains on administration where Rs 22.92 lakh are expected to be spent while a provision of Rs 10 lakh is made for social welfare and Rs 46.90 lakh for public works and Rs 3.70 lakh on sanitation and public health.
