When the drive commenced to caution Indian tourists moving in their innerwear at Calangute beach, many residents of Calangute were pleased with the development.
Commenting on the drive at Calangute beach, former Calangute sarpanch Laxman Porob said. “It is a good thing that has happened, as we have been in awkward position many a times with our spouses and children.”
“It was disgusting to see tourists moving in their innerwear in front of our families. There should be a system in place as we cannot do whatever we want in foreign countries. Display boards or warning signs should be put up on the beach front and a zoning system introduced for swimming, drinking and other activities.”
A resident, Nakita D’Souza, said, “I am happy that the police are advising the tourists on moving in innerwear on the beach. Finally, the much sought drive against the untidy innerwear is happening for the good of women and people of Calangute.”
