An accused in a drugs case, Ravi Naik, allegedly escaped from the custody of the Anti-Narcotics Cell (ANC) team near the Bodgeshwar Temple on Thursday afternoon after a group of unidentified persons reportedly intervened during the police operation.
According to a complaint lodged by ANC PSI Shaheen Shetye, the team had attempted to intercept Ravi Naik when around 10–15 unidentified men allegedly surrounded the officers and obstructed them from performing their duty. Police have alleged that Ravi, along with Gopi Naik and others, restrained personnel and facilitated his escape.

Authorities have registered offences related to obstruction of duty and issuing threats to public servants. Ravi Naik remains absconding, and further investigation is being carried out by PSI Aditya Gad.
Counter-Complaint Filed at Mapusa Police Station
Meanwhile, Ravi Naik has filed a counter-complaint at the Mapusa Police Station, alleging that ANC officials attempted to falsely implicate him by planting narcotics.
In his complaint, he claimed that ANC personnel, including PI Sagun Sawant and PSI Shaheen Shetye, approached him during a wedding function near the temple and tried to detain him. He further stated that part of the incident was recorded and that eyewitnesses are available to support his version.
Police have yet to comment in detail on the counter-allegations, stating that the matter is under investigation. Authorities are examining all claims and evidence as part of the ongoing probe.
