SANGUEM: The dry fish vendors, who were against shifting their stalls to a different place on during the seven days long fair on the ocassion of the feast of Our Lady of Miracles Sanguem, have finally agreed to shift to the new venue failing to withstand the pressure from Sanguem Municipal Council.
As the municipality was hard pressed for more space to put up readymade garments stalls, which were otherwise put in the municipal complex, the Municipality at its meeting held earlier this week had resolved to shift the dry fish vendors who were sitting on either side of the internal road proceeding to Boilapar to the new place below the office of the Deputy Collector where the weekly market is held.
The move was however opposed by the dry fish vendors who claimed to have been conducting the business from their usual place since decades. The municipality however showed its inability to permit them to install their stalls at the usual place as it was needed to make place for readymade garments stalls, who otherwise would sit inside the municipal building complex but had to be shifted this year around as the municipal hall is booked for marriage parties.
Later today after much persuasion, the dry fish vendors agreed to shift to the new place.
