Vasco: All arrangements in place for the Mormugao municipal polls. PPE kits for COVID positive voters have been supplied.

According to Deputy Collector Mormugao, Sachin Desai there are 68,089 voters in the municipal area who will decide the fate of 25 candidates.
There are total 77 polling booths. From these, 18 sensitive polling booths have been identified where additional police staffs have been deployed at the location. Total 77 teams have been dispatched at all booths.
When asked about the precautionary measures taken considering the consistent spike in COVID cases, Desai informed that as per the govt direction more than five persons, rallies, gathering will not be allowed. And if someone found doing so then strict action will be taken on such people.
On the day of counting, only counting agent on each table would be allowed. For the others the counting area will be sealed.
Later when questioned about measures taken for the voters who are COVID positive, Desai said, “4 pm to 5 pm has been given to CoVID positive people who will be given PPE kits, already the BLOs have been supplied with these kits and BLOs will deliver it to the people. Around 200 Covid positive voters have been identified in municipal areas, who are likely to come to cast their votes. The number may differ as per the voters turnout” he said.
