PANJIM: Even as the controversy over Citizens Amendment Act is yet to settle down, the State government has issued a diktat to all high schools and higher secondary schools to conduct activities under “Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat” in one language “Hindi”.
As per the circular issued by the Director of Education Vandana Rao (IAS), dated December 4, 2019, copy of which is in possession of Herald, all schools have to strictly adhere to the circular.
“The Prime Minister of India has launched the “Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat” (EBSB) programme on Ekta Divas (October 31, 2015) and there is a need for this initiative to take off in the right spirit and direction,” the circular reads.
The circular says the programme is launched with a view to celebrate the unity in diversity of one nation, promote the spirit of national integration through meaningful engagement of states, showcase a rich heritage culture, customs, of State, UT with a partner State, UT and enrich knowledge of partner state but also to develop a sense of bonding between the students of partner States.
According to the circular, over a year, people of the State will engage with people of partner State.
The States/Union Territories have been grouped in 16 pairs wherein Goa is paired with State of Jharkhand, it says.
“In this regards the heads of government/government-aided high schools and higher secondary schools in Goa are instructed to organise and conduct the activities as per the enclosed list in their respective schools under EBSB programme. These activities should be integrated in regular school activities without any need for extra classes,” the circular states.
Interestingly, it says, adequate publicity may be given to activities to be conducted under EBSB and innovative and effective way may be used to reach out to larger community.
“The pairing of States/Union Territories will continue till 2020.
All activities to be conducted in Hindi,” it orders.
Further, the circular says, the schools are required to maintain report on activities conducted under EBSB in the form of quarterly and annual school report.
“The schools are to maintain a separate display board where upon photographs of activities conducted by the school under EBSB should be displayed along with small caption. These reports along with at least two photos and 1 short video of each activity shall be sent to the concerned State nodal officer at ektabharatschool.goa@gmail.com as per format given,” it says.
“Certification of participation and winners badges will be provided for each activity. Winners and participants will awarded with titles like “Madhubani ka kalakar”, “Kalam ka Sipahi”, “Ambassador of Unity, “Sangeet ka Ustaad” etc, and a detailed report including the winners of the may be submitted to State nodal officer,” the director says in the circular.
