The holy month of Ramadan ended with the auspicious celebration of Eid al-Fitr on Saturday. Muslims celebrated Eid-al-Fitr across the state and the world with religious fervour. The celebration is determined by the sighting of the crescent moon, which is believed to signify the start of the Shawwal month in the lunar Islamic calendar. It marks the end of the holy fasting month of Ramzan.
Muslims celebrate the festival of Eid al Fitr by starting the day with the Eid prayer after which they greet each other with the customary Eid greeting, ‘Eid Mubarak’. The day is spent with friends and family get-togethers, devouring delicious feasts and handing out gifts also known as Eidi.
