Eight theft cases reported in trains

Passengers robbed of gold, cash and other valuables worth Rs 3.24 lakh

MARGAO: Eight theft cases were reported in trains across Goa wherein unknown persons robbed passengers of gold, cash and other valuables worth Rs 3.24 lakh.

In the first case, 50-year-old Gopinath Purushottam, a Thane resident in his complaint to the Konkan Railway Police stated that at Pernem Railway Station while travelling along with his family members from Kerala to Mumbai in Netravati Express, some unknown person/s stole his mobile phone worth Rs 24,000. Konkan Railway Police registered an offence under Section 279 of IPC and investigations are in progress.

In the second theft reported in Coimbatore Express at Margao Railway Station, some unknown person/s committed theft of a trolley bag belonging to Rajgopalan Nambrath of Surat, which contained a laptop, clothes and books worth Rs 35,000. Police have registered a case of theft. 

In the third case, which took place in Matsyagandha Express, some unknown person/s stole a ladies bag belonging to Saritha Sagar of Mumbai, which contained a pair of gold earrings, mobile phone, spectacles and cash worth Rs 20,000. The theft was reported at Margao Railway Station when the complainant was travelling along with her family.

In the fourth case, Tulsi Sundar of Mumbai in her complaint stated that at Margao Railway Station, some unknown person/s stole her handbag containing gold jewellery, 8 pairs of silver leg brace and cash all worth Rs 1.10 lakh. They were travelling from Kerala to Vasai in Jamnagar Express when theft took place at Margao Railway Station.

Police Sub-Inspector Krishna Naik is investigating the case.

In the fifth case, Muneera Rahim of Kochi logged a complaint stating that some unknown person/s stole a mobile phone and power bank all worth Rs 42,000 in Netravati Express at Margao Railway Station. 

The complainant was travelling along with family members from Ernakulam to Mumbai when the theft was reported. Assistant Sub-Inspector Aysha Mahamal is investigating.

In another case, Satyapal Singh Yadav of New Delhi complained to the Konkan Railway Police stating that some unknown person/s stole his mobile phone worth Rs 18,000 while travelling from Margao to Mumbai in Konkan Kanya Express at Thivim Railway Station. 

In the seventh case, one Shine Mathew of Kerala in his complaint to the Konkan Railway Police stated that some unknown person/s committed theft of mobile phone worth Rs 25,000 while travelling from Mumbai to Kerala in Netravati Express near Karmali Railway Station.

Konkan Railway Police have registered an offence and are further investigating the case.

In another case, one Sadanand Kulal of Udupi, Karnataka lodged a complaint with Konkan Railway Police stating that some unknown person/s stole a bag containing cash of Rs 40,000, a mobile with SIM card all worth Rs 50,000 in Matsyagandha Express at Margao Railway Station while travelling alone from Mumbai to Udupi.

Police have interrogated some persons in this connection and investigation is on.
