SANGUEM: The entry fees collected by the Netravali Village Panchayat will be exclusively used for the development activities of the village and there would be complete transparency in the process.
Speaking to the media in Sanguem, Deputy Sarpanch Abhijeet Dessai, along with Sarpanch Rajani Gaonkar and members Vithal Gaonkar and Santosh Naik, castigated the remarks made by the Shiv Sena State Vice President Rakhi Naik as baseless and uncalled for, particularly at a time when the panchayat was on the road to development.
The panchayat had not collected a single rupee from villagers or from those who came to visit relatives in the village, Dessai said, adding that as of now they had not received any complaint from the villagers in this regard. All services, right from collection of garbage, were provided by the panchayat and the Forest Department had no right to collect the entry fees, he claimed.
The panchayat claims that the forest department had collected around Rs 5 lakh over the last seven years, but not a single rupee was utilised for the benefit of the tourists, the sarpanch claimed.
