Erring truckers will be debarred from ferrying ore, warns Mines Dept

PANJIM: Noting that several truck owners are involved in disrupting transportation of e-auctioned iron ore, the Directorate of Mines and Geology (DMG) has warned to debar such erring truck operators from ferrying the ore along with criminal action.

In a circular issued, Director Mines Vivek HP has said that it was brought to the notice of the department that some truck associations are not allowing the smooth transportation of the e-auctioned ore citing that they have exclusive rights to transport the ore that is located with the jurisdiction of these associations.

“Thus restricting trucks from other associations from transporting the ore causing hindrance or undue delay in timely transportation of the Supreme Court mandated ore transportation,” the Director said.

Vivek has informed that there will be no selective restriction on any truck being used for transportation of any e-auctioned ore anywhere except that of North Goa registered trucks used in South Goa and vice-versa. “However, in case of inter-district transportation of ore, this restriction will be relaxed,” he said.

The Director has urged truck association to desist from acting contrary to the instructions failing which strict action will be taken against the erring associations or truck owners.

“We would be forced to debar them from transporting ore from future e-auctions or regular ore transportation for violating the orders of the Supreme Court which will include civil and criminal action,” Vivek said.

The Supreme Court has allowed transportation of e-auctioned ore, on which royalty is paid in the State.
