PORVORIM: Public Works Department, Mapusa, has prepared preliminary estimates for the construction of subway from Jivottam Mutt to District Institute of Education and Training (DIET), Porvorim.
Speaking to Herald, Tourism Minister Dilip Parulekar said traffic along the national highway from Panjim to Mapusa has increased and accidents have become a regular feature near Jivottam Mutt.
“Residents of PDA had requested me to construct subway near Jivottam Mutt to enable two and four-wheelers to proceed towards the DIET side,” informed Parulekar.
“The total cost of the one-way subway has been estimated to be Rs 1.98 crore. We have prepared the estimates and submitted it for approval,” said Kerkar.
“Once approved by the PWD minister, we will prepare detailed proposal,” he said.
