Ex-CM Rane complains of fever, admitted to GMC

PANJIM: Former Chief Minister and Congress legislator Pratapsing Rane was admitted to the Goa Medical College and Hospital at Bambolim on Saturday night after he complained of fever.
Seventy-nine-year-old Rane, the longest serving chief minister, walked in the Goa Medical College and Hospital on Saturday night. He was later diagnosed with urinary tract infection. He was later checked by the doctors and was advised to be admitted for the night as he was kept under observation. He was admitted at around 11.15 pm, sources said. 
His son and Health Minister Vishwajit Rane was in Bengaluru for personal work and was there till Sunday. Rane was admitted in the Medicine Ward and his health is being constantly monitored.
Goa Medical College and Hospital Medical Superintendent Dr Shivanand Bandekar said that Sr Rane was admitted and refused to divulge into the details.
Goa Pradesh Congress Committee president Girish Chodankar, who visited Rane on Sunday morning, said, “The leader was hale and hearty and in a jovial mood.” He would be soon discharged as there is nothing to worry, Chodankar said.
Rane was taken to GMCH in the recent past after he had complained of burning sensation in the chest.
The Health Minister, who has been facing criticism over facilities at Goa Medical College and Hospital following Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar’s admission outside the State besides some other politicians in the BJP camp, cited that facilities at State-run hospital are of top class and he took his father (Senior Rane) for check up. He said the Goa Medical College and Hospital provides the best medical treatment. 
Meanwhile, Health Minister Vishwajit Rane said, “This is specially to inform all of you that my father Mr Pratapsingh Rane was admitted to the Goa Medical College as a precautionary measure and has been kept under observation. I have been receiving hundreds of phone calls and messages on various forums and I would just like to clarify and reassure you all that there is nothing to be concerned about as he is absolutely fine. The doctors at the Goa Medical College have checked him thoroughly he is under the care of our premium institution and shall be discharged tomorrow. Thank you so much for all your concern, your thoughts, prayers and good wishes, which mean a lot to us.”
