PANJIM: A 23-year-old youth, who was a part of a five-member group from Raichur, was killed in an accident reported at Chimbel on Sunday afternoon.
According to Old Goa police, the accident took place at around 2.30 pm when their car rammed into a metal fence.
The tourists were on their way back home after a daylong stay in Goa.
Twenty-three-year-old Bhvasaheb Buaji died on the way to the Goa Medical College and Hospital while the driver Kasim Ali (23) sustained injuries.
However, three others namely Ravichandra Gutidar (20), Mehboob Pasha (23) and Muhammad Morgan (23) had a miraculous escape.
“The five tourists had come to Goa in their vehicle on Saturday. On Sunday, after having lunch they were on their way back to Raichur when the accident occurred. The car crashed into a metal fence and the impact was such that a part of the fence broke and pierced the windscreen seriously injuring Buaji, who was sitting in the middle on the rear seat,” said a police officer.
It is learnt that the car was speeding at 80-90 kmph. However, the Old Goa Police are probing the accident.
