Ex-convict inflicts self injury in lock-up

An ex-convict Kumar Rathod gave the Margao police a scare after he allegedly inflicted self injury on his hand inside the lock-up last evening.
The accused was immediately rushed to Hospicio hospital for treatment of injury.
Margao police station incharge, PI Santosh Desai has said the accused inflicted self injury after hitting his hand on the ceramic tile in the toilet block. He said the accused sustained only a minor injury and was discharged from the hospital.
Replying to a question, PI Desai said the accused was taken into custody by the police in connection with a theft case. “The police is interrogating the accused to verify his role in a theft case”, he said. Investigations are on.
