PANJIM: In a major relief to Goa’s former deputy inspector general of police Vimal Gupta, the Sessions Court on Tuesday granted him anticipatory bail in an alleged bribery case. The court has ordered that in case he is arrested, he is to be released on a bail bond of Rs 50,000.
Gupta had approached the court seeking anticipatory bail fearing arrest in the case that has already seen PSI Devyani Naik and constable Chetan Morajkar suspended. He had submitted to the court that Anti-Corruption Branch has not conducted a fact finding inquiry before registering the FIR against him and further questioned the evidence indicating his involvement in the case.
