MARGAO: Curtorim MLA Aleixo Reginaldo Lourenco on Saturday stated that the State government should wake up from its deep slumber and honours the two-month-old assurance given on the floor of August House for exempting Mormugao Port Trust from the Major Port Authorities Act 2021 insofar as the exclusion of municipal, local or government regulations are concerned.
“The Chief Minister had given assurance to the Goa Legislative Assembly on recommending to the Central government to exempt Mormugao Port Trust (MPT) from Section 22(2), 25, and 26 of the Major Port Authorities Bill 2020 insofar as exclusion of municipal, local or government regulations is concerned, considering the small size of Goa and the consequences and impact on public participatory, planned, and sustainable development in the State,” stated Curtorim MLA in a letter to Chief Minister Pramod Sawant in this regards on Saturday.
He also informed that he had urged the August House then to unanimously pass the aforesaid resolution for the exemption of MPT from the Major Port Authorities Bill 2021 passed by the Parliament in February 2021.
