PANJIM: As the daily COVID-19 positivity rate in the State jumped to seven per cent, the Expert Committee on COVID management on Friday reiterated its earlier recommendation of imposing night curfew in Goa along with shutting educational institutions for a period of 15 days.
The State’s positivity rate which was at four percent at the start of the week has crossed seven per cent, with over 755 cases reported in last four days.

Following directions from the Health Minister Vishwajit Rane, the Expert Committee held its second round of meeting on Friday. The first meeting was held on Monday, December 27.
Sources in the Expert Committee said that it has decided to recommend to the Task Force immediate imposing of night curfew in the State to curb spread of virus.
The Committee had earlier too recommended night curfew seriously, which was ruled out by the government till January 3. The Committee also recommended government to give schools a break of 15 days estimating a further rise in infections in the next few days.
The Committee suggested that clubs, casinos, theatres, cinema halls, spas, parlours, restaurants and other places of public amusement must operate at 50 per cent capacity and COVID norms are followed.
The Committee had earlier recommended complete shutting down of tourism activities, if average positivity rate goes above 7.5 percent and active cases rise to 3000. The Task Force committee is set to meet on Monday, January 3, to review the situation and take appropriate decision.
