BICHOLIM: The Bicholim Municipal Council on Thursday laid foundation stone for faecal sludge treatment plant at Lakherem, which has the capacity of treating 15 night soil tankers in a day.
The foundation stone was laid by State Assembly Speaker Rajesh Patnekar in the presence of BMC Chairperson Kundan Falari and other councillors.
Through this project, the BMC can separate the faecal sludge into solid and liquid. The solid can be converted into a type of vermicompost and the liquid can be used for gardening.
“This is our first step towards becoming ‘Atmanirbhar,” BMC Chairperson Falari said.
“We are happy that the BMC has implemented this technique,” Speaker Patnekar said.
