Navelim MLA Luizinho Faleiro charged that the government has made Goa a coal destination by signing an agreement with Adani to import 5.80 million tonnes of coal and with Jindal to import 5.60 million tonnes of coal.
Faleiro said that then Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar had said that he will not allow coal and double tracking of railways. But today double tracking has been allowed only to destroy Goa and help capitalists to import coal. Goa, which was a tourist destination is already become a coal destination, he said.

Faleiro said that the government is trying to undermine Goa and Goans, especially where illegal mining loot is concerned. The Supreme Court had asked the government to recover Rs 35,000 crore illegal mining loot and the government miserably failed, he added.
“We should have also opposed the Major Ports Bill, 2021 which is taking away rights on Goans especially when we are a federal State. The Bill is taking away our law, Goa Mundkar Act, Goa Municipalities Act, Town and Country Planning Act, Revenue Code and all our laws. This Act is imposed on Goa and we have miserably failed as the reply by the Deputy Chief Minister has said that they have already written to the Government of India. It is a shame that we have BJP government, both at the Centre and in Goa and the Centre has not bothered to reply to the State government.”
He added, “This and many other issues which are near and dear to Goans will destroy Goa and our ecology. The three linear projects are destroying our ecology, environment, forest and trees whatever painstakingly Goans have preserved is being destroyed.”
The former Chief Minister further said that the fish mafia is killing Goans for many years. They may be earning Rs 40 to Rs 50 crore per day but 90 per cent of the fish coming to Goa is laced with formalin. The government has failed to protect the health of people of Goa, he said.
