PONDA: At least 5400 fan plates worth Rs 3 Lakh have been stolen from a factory at Bethora Industrial Estate. The theft occurred over a month ago and the unit owner lodged a police complaint late Saturday.
Ponda Police said they are verifying all the vehicles that exited the main gate of the industrial estate on the intervening night of July 12 and 13 when the crime took place as the large quantity of the plates cannot be taken out of the industrial estate manually or by a two-wheeler.
The plates which were kept in an open area within the industrial estate were stolen on the intervening night of July 12 and 13.
PI Mohan Gaude said Parab; the owner said he could not lodge a complaint immediately after the theft as he had to accompany his brother to a Mumbai hospital for heart treatment.
“Since a brother of the complaint was diagnosed with severe heart blockages, he had to be rushed to Mumbai hospital for necessary medical procedures”, PI Gaude said.
A case of theft has been registered at Ponda Police Station against unknown person/s under Section 379 of IPC.
