BICHOLIM: A 20-year old daughter was beaten to death by her father after he came to know of her illicit relations with a married neighbour at Sanquelim in Bicholim taluka.
According to the available information provided by the Bicholim PI, Mahesh Gadekar, the incident occurred on Thursday at around 10:15 pm. The accused father, Sunilkumar Faujdar Ranjan (46), originally from Uttar Pradesh but residing at present at Gokulwadi Sanquelim, found out that his daughter Pratima Ranjan (20) was having illicit relations with a married neighbour.

In a fit of anger Sunilkumar assaulted Pratima with wooden cricket stump. Two minor brothers of the victim were also in the room when the incident took place.
After the assault, Pratima was taken to CHC Sanquelim but succumbed to injuries while undergoing treatment. The medical officer, Dr Anuja Dabholkar, later lodged a complaint with the police.
The police immediately arrested Pratima’s father under Section 302 IPC. Bicholim PI Mahesh Gadekar is further investigating the case under the guidance of DySP Gajanan Prabhudesai.
The accused was running a fruit stall at Sanquelim.
