In his complaint, Nitin R Nagwekar urged the concerned authorities to take strict action against the culprit for destroying the environment and creating nuisance in the locality.

Speaking to the media persons, Nagwekar alleged that the owner of the building is yet to take connection of the sewage pipeline and continues to dump sewage and other waste into the pond.

“This is a highly populated residential area, which also serves as grazing ground for cattle and aquatic life. However, the release of sewage waste into the pond and open fields by the building owner has created a very dangerous health hazard to the locality, as well as to the animals and aquatic life by contaminating the environment with unbearable stinking smell leading to breeding ground for mosquitoes,” he stated.

He further informed that a complaint has been filed before the Sewage Department on which the officers immediately deployed a team for inspection.

“My request is to stop the sewage released into the pond through the drainage. The entire area, including the drains, needs to be cleaned at the earliest, before any health issues arise to the surrounding locality,” Nagwekar demanded.

“I will be also filing a complaint before the Goa State Pollution Control Board in the next couple of days,” he added.
