VASCO: In a tragic accident reported at Senaulim-Verna on Tuesday morning, a resident of Fatorda, who was proceeding to work, died after a huge tree crashed on his car.

Police and fire brigade personnel rushed to the site and recovered his body and cleared the road by cutting off the uprooted tree.

Verna Police sources informed that the deceased Sunil Ramanand Naik, a resident of Fatorda, died in a tragic accident on Tuesday morning after a huge tree fell on his car while he was proceeding to work.

The sources claimed that the deceased was working in a private company at the Verna Industrial estate.

The impact of the tree crash was such that Sunil got trapped inside the car.

An elderly woman from Senaulim informed that the tree had turned weak and was tilting.

“After noticing that the tree was about the crash any moment, some people stopped for some time, but unfortunately the deceased, who was driving a car, came in the proximity of the tree, which crashed on the vehicle,” she informed.

Meanwhile, Verna PI Mohan Gaude said, “The police rushed to the spot along with the fire brigade personnel and cut the tree that landed on the car to rescue the deceased.”

“We later tried to rescue the deceased, but he succumbed to his injuries caused in the tree crash,” PI Gaude informed.
