MARGAO: Fatorda residents were left fuming over the alleged demolition of the septic tank and soak pit in the locality.
A resident complained that a new construction has come up in the area and the contractor has dug pits by demolishing the common soak pit and septic tank of the houses. Around six residents complained to the Margao Municipal Council regarding the inconvenience causing due to the demolition of the common soak pit and septic tank. The residents have also complained to the Health Department and Margao Police on June 9. “This septic tank is used by several houses. Now it has been destroyed and we cannot use our toilets and bathrooms. We have given official complaints to MMC, police and health department but nothing has been done to solve our problem,” Jwala Sinai Kakodkar informed.
“Several households are going to suffer because of this. No one knows where the sewage is flowing, which may result in an epidemic,” she added. “The authorities are moving at a snail’s pace,” she claimed.
Earlier, the contractor had committed to repair the septic tank but of late he failed to do so.
