PONDA: There was Traffic congestion at Ponda on Monday evening as car and bikes queued up at Ponda Petrol Pump following speculations of supposed fuel crisis becomes rife. It caused traffic congestion at Ponda bus stand, too.
There was as an anxiety among vehicle owner after the speculation plagued the town that there would be fuel price hike from midnight due to Russia –Ukraine war. Beside this, vehicle owner also feared that after the Assembly elections across the country conclude, the government would increase the prices to recover the losses.
Out of three, two petrol pumps operating, including one at outskirt of town were seen closed on Monday evening. One petrol pump displayed it was closed for electrical work. However, as two petrol pumps were closed in the evening it created panic among vehicle owners that they may face shortage of fuel and so all of them made long queues at the only petrol pump operating at Ponda bus stand. Later one petrol pump, which was closed for the day opened its operations and soon it attracted a huge flow of vehicles.
