PANJIM: The Congress leaders on Monday intensified deliberations with its candidates ahead of counting of votes in EVMs on Thursday.
Expressing his confidence that the Congress will come back to power in Goa after 10 years, All India Congress Committee (AICC) Goa desk incharge Dinesh Gundu Rao said that he discussed with candidates about the feedback they received from the people.
Rao said, “We are receiving good responses. We are receiving responses not only from our people but also from other sources. We are upbeat that Congress is going to form the next government and it is the under current in Goa.”
Rao expressed confidence that 2017 fiasco will not be repeated this time as the party has taken all precautions and full-proof mechanism put in place. In 2017 polls, Congress had failed to form the government after emerging as the single largest party.
”We are together and prepared and we would not allow repetition of 2017 elections. Congress will form the government. There will not be any scope for anything else to happen,” Rao said.
The Congress leader reiterated that as soon as the Assembly results are declared, the Congress will stake claim to form the next government.
Leader of the Opposition Digambar Kamat said the Congress will take a right decision at the right time.
“This time there is not going to be any issue. You will see that. As per our assessment, Congress is going to secure majority and will form a government in alliance with the Goa Forward Party,” he said.
According to Kamat, there will be many surprises on the counting day but the Congress will take all the like-minded parties along with them.
