PONDA: Film Makers, a body of Goan film producers, has condemned the decision of the Entertainment Society of Goa (ESG) of failing to invite film producers from the State to the inaugural ceremony of the International Film Festival of India (IFFI) held at Campal-Panjim on Wednesday.
“This is a deliberate attempt being made by authorities to keep Goan film producers away from the IFFI,” Film Makers President Milind Mhadgut told Herald.
“While there is an attempt to sideline Goan films, authorities have now even neglected the Goa film producers by not inviting them for the inaugural ceremony.”
“Interestingly during the previous government, the authorities had invited all film producers from the State, but now the things are different. It appears to be a party convention rather than an event related to films,” Mhadgut added.
Incidentally, the Film Makers had earlier demanded to shift the IFFI from Goa on grounds that the event (IFFI) was doing no good for the Goan film industry. They had argued that the amount spent by the state government on the festival could have been utilized to develop infrastructure and film culture in the State.
