MERCES: Public pressure seems to have ultimately paid off as the Aman Co-operative Housing Society has started the work of constructing a new septic tank inside its premises.
When Herald visited the site of work, an excavator was used to dig the ground where the new septic tank will be constructed.
It may be recalled that the society was in the news for all the wrong reasons due to overflowing sewage and the public had demanded that the concerned authorities should take strong action in the matter as it was proving to be a health hazard to the villagers.
When contacted, Society Chairman Kishore Kudnekar informed that they have started the work for constructing a new septic tank at a cost of Rs 6.5 lakh.
“We have already collected Rs 1.5 lakh and the remaining amount will be collected soon,” he added.
Kudnekar further stated that the work is expected to be completed in the next 15-20 days and assured that the issue of overflowing sewage would be resolved thereafter.
